Vulnerabilities

In the Nmap we found that it is vulnerable to heartbleed.

Apparently the site shows nothing but a picture. Let’s proceed with fuzzing to see what directories it has.

Fuzzing with dirbuster we found several striking directories.

There are 2 files in /dev/..

• hype_key: It is a hexadecimal encoded text.

• notes.txt: It does not provide us with much

Its the private key of SSH

A user is needed for the SSH, the file that contained the private key gives us a clue. “hype_key”.

We can intuit that it is a key by the word “key” and we try with the user “hype”.

It appears to be the correct user. We need the key, we proceed to the heartbleed exploit to see if we can find it.

Explotation:

We know it is vulnerable to heartbleed thanks to the nmap scan.

Let’s use the exploit:

Returns the file containing information about the server’s memory.

Since it is so long, we will use the “more” command to go little by little.

It is base64 encoded text.

Now we have the key

Once we have all the necessary information, we try to log into the ssh.

Privilege Escalation:

• User flag

The first thing to do in a privilege escalation is to see if there is a binary that is misconfigured and we can exploit it to gain root access.

Privilege escalation is also found when root is executing a command and we can take advantage of it, we can see it with the pspy tool or directly with ps aux.

Once we know this we execute the command. This command gives us a tmux shell as root

Now we are root
